Epic Education Radio: the family travel podcast. Episode 000 Interviewing traveling familiesOk, people. This has been a LONG time coming, but at last I’m ready to share this with the world.


It’s my new family travel podcast focusing on family travel and the people who have made it a part of their lives. Here you will find interviews with a variety of people who have decided to take their kids on the road. Some have taken a gap year for an action-packed round-the-world trip. Others have made this a permanent lifestyle choice, moving slowly across the globe at a pace of their own design.

This is the pre-episode, where I tell you a little about me and about what you can expect in upcoming episodes. Check out the podcast for details about me. As for the podcast outline itself, I’ve added a few notes below.

A family travel podcast for traveling families and those who want to be. The questions in each episode are:

#1: Epic Intro:

Guests will describe their family, the type of family travel they do, and a few places they’ve been together.

#2: Epic Origins:

One story of how they became a traveling family, for example:

  • A defining moment when they decided to try long-term family travel or…
  • A moment when they realized that family travel was important for them, or …
  • How their family’s life has changed because of travel choices.

#3: Epic Habits:

One habit, routine or daily ritual that is important to each family.

#4: Epic Economics:

A few details regarding how they fund traveling and/or manage money on the road, including:

  • How their life may be designed to incorporate family travel.
  • Any specific strategies for saving, budgeting, managing money with travel in mind.
  • Any money-related products or services they might recommend, such as specific apps, banks, credit cards, travel insurance companies, etc.

#5: Epic Essentials:

What do they carry with them on the road? Items such as:

  • Computing/communication devices (laptops, phones & tablets)
  • Photo / Video / Audio
  • Travel Clothing, Shoes & accessories (if applicable)
  • Luggage/backpacks/carriers and organizational/storage items

#6: Epic Insight:

Any family travel podcast must talk about education. Hear the guest’s approach to their children’s education and they implement that approach.

#7: Epic Resources:

What resources these parents (and their kids) use for education & entertainment. These might include:

  • Websites
  • Apps
  • Blogs
  • TV Shows
  • Podcasts
  • Youtube channels
  • Programs & software
  • Other online resources
  • Other offline resources
  • Books & recent recommended reading
  • Magazines or other printed material

#8: Epic Advice:

Any additional tips and strategies regarding extended family travel. These could relate to:

  • Education
  • Accommodation
  • Socialization
  • Transportation
  • Safety
  • Money
  • Food
  • Navigation
  • Packing / Organization
  • Kids’ online time
  • Experiences
  • Stress
  • Time or Data management
  • Dealing with babies, teens etc.
  • Or whatever the guest would like to share.

#9: Epic Destinations:

Guests will share a few cities, countries or specific places/events that they’ve experienced and would recommend to other traveling families.
