Tips on Hoi An Hotels for Family Travelers

Looking for where to stay in Hoi An Vietnam? There are so many Hoi An hotels for family travelers that it can be hard to choose. Here’s our list of some of the best hotels in Hoi An to go with kids. From luxury Hoi An hotels to homestays and budget hotels in Hoi An Vietnam. hoi an vietnam hotel | hoi an vietnam beach | hoi an vietnam photography | vietnam hoi an old town | vietnam hoi an lanterns

Lots of Pools

Almost all of the best Hoi An hotels listed here has a year-round pool. These are great to cool off in, as central Vietnam is very hot and humid. That said, the pools aren’t very big.

Not Many Elevators

There are lots of great Hoi An hotels, but even some of the best hotels in Hoi An don’t have elevators/lifts. This doesn’t matter much if you’re on the first or second floor, but if you’re on the 5th? Many 4-star Hoi An hotels have staff to help you with heavy suitcases but don’t expect them everywhere. When choosing where to stay in Hoi An, consider that you might have a few flights of stairs to climb after walking in the heat.

Infrastructure in Vietnam

If you’re staying at a luxury hotel in Hoi An, then you can expect a shower with amazing water pressure and endless hot water. You can expect the wifi to be fast and constant. What if you’re not staying in a 5-star Hoi An Hotel? It’s still great. But it’s important to remember that the infrastructure in Vietnam may not be able to handle the same capacity as the US, UK or Japan.

No matter where you stay in Hoi An, the wifi may cut out. The power may cut out. Your shower may not be as strong as you like back home. Even in some of the best hotels in Hoi An. And if you stay in the historic district, then there could be an occasional smell coming up from the drain. Hoi An has developed far faster than the city’s systems could adapt to. It reminds us of Bali. Or Penang. And we feel the same in San Miguel de Allende. There’s lots of development happening to accommodate more people, which brings me to my next point.

Lots of Construction

Thanks to tourism and digital nomad-types, the city is growing fast. There are more and more Hoi An hotels and apartments being built all the time. And they’re often being built right next to some other hotel. That means there could be construction noise near where you’re staying. It’s best to look through recent reviews to see if anyone complains about it. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but it could affect your trip.

Roosters

Another noise common in Vietnam are roosters in the morning. Even the best hotels in Hoi An may sit near a private residence who has their own birds. It’s hard to tell you where to stay in Hoi An to avoid these, as their frequency and location vary, but staying on upper floors sometimes helps, but remember the lack of elevators.

Bicycles at Hotels in Hoi An

Vietnam is a very bikable country, and most Hoi An hotels have bicycles available. They are often complementary, but their quality varies widely. Always check the brakes, tires, and lights before rolling out. And remember: there are bicycle rental shops in Hoi An too. Get a better bike if you need it.

Helmets & Baby Seats for Bicycles in Vietnam

It would be great if the hotels in Hoi An had plenty of helmets and bicycles with a child seat. Unfortunately, they are still hard to come by. If you know you want bike helmets and a child seat, it may be worth calling ahead to see if they have them.

Hotel Services

Almost all hotels in Hoi An will have laundry service, but prices vary. It’s often quite cheap, but if it’s more than you want to pay, then there is very likely to be a small mom & pop laundry business nearby. And it will cost a fraction of hotel prices.

Most Hoi An hotels have a tour desk, too. They can help you arrange everything from tours to cooking classes. They can call you a taxi or book your ride to the next destination. Of course, they usually get kickbacks for these things, and some places are pushier than others about getting you to buy through them.

Always shop around first, but you can often get a better deal through the place you’re staying. Hoi An Hotels also usually offer airport shuttle services, too, but only from Dalat airport and it’s almost never included in the rate.
